Excellent tip (bluntly) - oh no, a pun too!

I really like this article for two reasons:

First, I've had a couple blunt needle tips clog, which is annoying and has relegated several to the "fix in the far future" project box.  This solves that problem.

Second, everyone with a filament 3D printer runs into nozzle clogs periodically, especially when your hot end gets a tad too hot and the heat creeps up and softens the filament before it gets into the hot end, causing a jam.  Sometimes you can solve it by doing an "atomic pull", but other times no such luck and you're off to the races to either remove the nozzle for a bath with a propane torch or some really tedious heating and poking from the top of the nozzle to force the melted filament out.  This also solves this problem.

Two problems solved in under two minutes of reading time?  That's worth 5 stars on the rating.

Joe:   I bought the same applicators and tips that you referenced in an issue of MRH a while back.  I also have seen clogging.  I just throw the clogged tip into a small container of MEK.  Let it  soak for a while and the clog is gone.

Haven't seen a clog yet that MEK won't clear up but that probably says a whole lot about the potency of MEK and why one should handle it with care.

Are the needles currently unavailable for people in the US? I'm in Mexico so I'm wondering if it's just 'ship to mexico' that's out of stock.

Wiping the needle tip off on a rag after every few seams works for me.   The current backdrop building project involves over 100 such joints and the needle hasn't stayed clogged yet.  Smallest diameter of Joe F's needle recommendation for applying Joe F's recommended Ethyl Acetate.  Obviously recommended.   <g>
