Small Screws

Hello:

I buy my small screws from http://www.BoltDepot.com. I usually buy 100 of each size I might use. I also keep Metric sizes since the M2 nuts fit the pockets on Atlas O scale ore cars. They have one of the best on-line catalogs I've seen, second only to McMaster.com.

Since the smaller screw sizes

Since the smaller screw sizes have a small per unit price if bought in bulk,,,,,, what if subscribers to Running Extra would receive a small sample?

(Please laugh at the suggestion)

McMaster-Carr

Has a great selection of small screws and bolts, and at much more attractive prices than Amazon. McMaster.com.

Remember to buy the screws longer than needed. You can always shorten them but you can't lengthen them.

Hi all,
If you've got high-powered magnets around, beware "Screwy Stuff " that can happen when you get caught with a supposedly brass "non-magnetic" screw that isn't. Learnt this one the hard way - D_rn brass-plated steel screws that weren't labelled as "plated". 😡😡😡

Sometimes it pays to check with a magnet that "non-magnetic" is truly "non-magnetic" before using the "non-magnetic" screws in critical locations,
