LED lamps

You need to be just a little careful with LEDs and color matching. White light illumination with LEDs is a pseudo white made from adding the light blue (450nM) of the native gallium-nitride LED to a yellow that is generated from the blue via a yittrium-aluminum-garnet (YAG) phosphor in a physical process called Stokes shifting.

The resulting spectrum is not polychromatic as it is lacking emission power in a great deal of the spectrum.

There are ways around this but I don't know the LED make up of the particular product.

The product is likely just fine for most uses.

Magnifier Lamp

I don't know what I would do without one of these. I ended up getting the Carson Deskbrite 200. Makes working on small items so much easier. Between this and my tweezers I don't which I'm more grateful for.

table top version

I have a variant of this lamp which clamps to the side of the table I use as a work-bench.

Recommend it !!!

Surprised

Jeff,, I was surprised to see you featuring the Brightech magnifier  LED lamp since I just took delivery on my own black one.  I like the table clamp on model myself. Excellent quality. Good call on both our parts.  Sorry for the clutter but major layout rebuild in progress.

They are nice lamps -

I find myself using the LED's as much for general illumination of the workspace as I do the magnifier part.

@Jeff

Jeff,

It has been a year now - how are you liking your Brightech lamp so far?  Are you using it with the weighted base, on your workbench?  Or floor mounted?

Thanks,

Floor mounted

I admit that I use it more as a light than as a magnifier - it's a lovely adjustible white LED. It gets used every time I sit down to work on something.

It also has a secondary purpose. I keep it stretched over my workbench down low, and it keeps my cat off the workbench!
