Page numbers

Page numbers are all crazy. Nothing matches up. Thumb nails are out of wack too.

Second copy?

Hot links from the download open the correct live page just fine but somehow a dropdown said I created a second copy and did I want to edit or delete copy. What was that all about?

Can I get some examples of screwed up page numbers and thumbnails?

Which hyperlinks gave you the second copy problem?

Also, are both problems in the download version (portrait or landscape) or did you see them in the online one?

Thanks!

Web downloader fixed

Web downloader problem fixed ... it was still behind the staging wall and only staff could see it. So we fixed that. Not sure what is meant by page numbers all being out of whack without some examples.

GandyDancer26 -

You should have received an order confirmation email when you subscribed. It has a link to use for downloads. You'll find both the portrait and landscape issues at the link.

Problem Solved

Thank you very much for fixing the issue here. Both of the download links, Portrait and Landscape work in the regular download process.

Landscape good, Portrait - wait.

The portrait version has a problem where the TOC and Index links at the bottom of the page haven't been changed from the default of pointing at the MRH website to the actual locations in the issue. Since Online is built from the Portrait version, it currently has the same problem.

The Landscape version is good to go as far as that is concerned.

If you don't have unlimited downloading, or you are on a slow connection, I recommend waiting until this afternoon to download the Portrait version.

Click on any thumbnail and

Click on any thumbnail and you get the correct page but you can't find that number on the image. It seems that you have a different numbering system that starts over with each article. Not a terrible thing but will cause confusion when the conversations start since there will be a choice of several numbers for each page.

I can't remember what caused the errant  hyperlink because it happened at 4 am when I was eating an apple and checking email before going back to bed.

MRH doesn't have full-magazine page numbers

We haven't had page numbers magazine-wide for several years now - each article does have an internal page number.

We had hoped to be able to convert MRH from a PDF to a portable reading format, to make it easier to read on smaller devices like phones. With that, page numbers become irrelevant because the file reformats it's page on the fly for the best reading size. Unfortunately, the hyperlinking in that format was not up to what we needed in order to support ad links the way we wanted to.

Using thumbnails instead of numbers in the table of contents isn't anything new for us.

It's all good now.

The portrait and online versions have been corrected and uploaded, and the landscape version has had some late fixes as well.

Download away!

Running Extra notice

Hi,

I went to the MRH site, logged in and can read/download the free magazine and I have subscribed to the Running Extra magazine and have not received any notice from MRH about it and cannot see the Running Extra to read/download. I have a receipt informing me that I have paid for the Running Extra.

As the subject line says, I paid for the Running Extra last weekend.  I received a notice confirming my purchase.  I also received a payment confirmation.  But, I have no access.  Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.  Thank you.

What to do.

I just wanted to make a few positive comments on What's Neat but in the section that says "enter new comments here" there is no place to enter comments. There is also an instruction to log in, which I have done. Now-What to do? Previous comments above seem to be about things that aren't working and some solutions. Great article and neat bridge.

If the following can be shunted to the right place I would appreciate it- and so might some readers. If not,

The world will continue on its path anyway.

In "What's neat," (Parker Brdge) when laying out work on plans, an old aircraft technique is to lay wax paper (from the supermarket-_ on the plan and work on that.  It is mentioned that a good way to remove liquid glue blemishes is to brush it. A fiberglas eraser or fiberglass brush ( usually jeweler supply have these) is able to do this with minimal scratching.)

Excellent MRH Staff Response!

Somehow my MRH mag subscription derailed in that long inaccessible tunnel called 'ethernet'.  A quick email brought not one, but two MOW trains highballed by non other than Joe and Jeff!  Once again on track, I can enjoy the highest quality of model railroad publishing there is- and I have subscribed to 'others' since 1958!  Keep up the excellent work, Joe, Jeff, and others!  Conrad
