Another great car modification

Well done and well written Bob. I always like following your step by step instructions. I also appreciate you showing when things go awry and how you fixed them. I really appreciate this from the MRH authors. Looking forward to more.

Nice article

I'm curious, when using weathering powders, do you not put a final "clear coat" over the model to protect the weathered finish?

Weathering

I've often wondered what causes the v shaped  weathering line on airslide cars. I think it must have something to do with welding on the inside of the car.

The  glad hands on air hoses are silver for only  a short time after they are installed. Being close to the ground they quickly pick up a coating of the dirt kicked up from the roadbed.

Angle cocks are usually painted the same color as the car and pick up the same weathering. They would only be silver, or more commonly gloss black, if they were replaced for some reason.

No need for clear coat

I never have issues with powders coming off. The powders(AIM Products) are so super fine they seem to penetrate the surface just as paint would.

This was the best article in

This was the best article in this issue of MRH - well documented steps - and I like to see that other people make mistakes, not just me!  Thanks for writing this up.

Great use of photos and

Great use of photos and captions alone.  very easy to follow.  Thanks.  I was hoping for an equally detailed treatment of the second hopper, which looks much different.
