Dan's Oil

Incredibly clean modeling, especially for N scale.  I like his ingenuity in making parts, and his procedures are clearly described.

Let's hope he has a computer full of such great articles!

Thanks Mike Holly and Joe F.  -  one of the best scratch building articles I've seen in a long time.

And let me echo the astonishment:  N Scale!

Great article

It can be transferred to HO or any other scale. These are the kind of articles I like to read.

I'm not so sure Joe, using

I'm not so sure Joe, using his dimensions, it would be kinda small in HO scale!

In N scale though, it's amazing!  The soldering skills alone are amazing.

I'm pretty sure

Joe was inferring that the measurements can be scaled up to any scale.

Different Joe here ... But that's right

Different Joe here, but that's right ... HO is 184% larger than N, so to make any N scale measurement into HO scale, just multiply by 1.84. For example, two actual inches on an N scale model is 3.68" for an HO model, or about 3-11/16".

Hours Spent??

Nice little diorama; helpful building details.   How long did this take? (not including paint drying time).

Gentlemen : Thank you very much for your kind comments !

Alan T. : No precise time measurement here ! I don't like working against a stopwatch  But I would say it took me 6 - 8 hours working time scattered over two weekends. Not included : drying time, photo time and writing time.

Nice How-To Article

I love reading these articles on how to DIY models for the layout. Great ideas on materials to use, and thinking outside the box.

The only thing I didn't see, was information on how the fence templates were made. I know, it's just measuring out and drawing on a piece of paper, but some basic information on how far apart the posts were placed, where to brace, and why, would have made a good sidebar.

Over all, a great article. I look forward to more.

Great Article, see comment on Bill of Materials here

Missing the stairway from Gold Medal Models in the Bill of Materials.

This looks like something I would enjoy putting together. I enjoyed the read on some of the techniques for assembly.
