Actually...

I see this working with the layout itself as well. Part of that paralysis that new modelers deal with, is not knowing exactly where to start, or if they really can pull off what they envision in their mind. We all have the perfect layout...in our heads. Pulling that vision out to the real world is the trick.

As Joe has said many times, stop worrying about failure, and just do something. Failing faster means finding out what doesn't work, and why. Now that you know something doesn't work, and why it doesn't work, you can adapt. You can either fix the problem, or try something completely new. Either way, you're actually starting a layout. The fact that it's a chainsaw simply means you are playing with ideas so you can learn what works. Then you can take a chainsaw to this layout, and build your Dream Layout with the skills you've learned on the chainsaw.

The other benefit of being willing to fail faster is, you might just find out that it's not nearly as hard as you worried it would be, and instead of failing, you actually succeed.
