Main site download very slow.

Thanks for the early release of MRH but the main site download for the standard landscape pdf is very slow.

Estimated time was 2 hours and I have fibre cable to the house so it is not a broadband speed issue at this end. I canceled the download after a few minutes and went to the backup download link. No issues downloading from the backup site and completed within 10 seconds.

Always tell us where you are located

When reporting speed problems, always tell us where you are located - that can make a big difference. Denver could be a very different speed than South Africa, for example.

Location - Issue solved

UK based and problem now gone away. Just retried the main link and took 15 seconds to download.

Sorry for the false alarm. Never experienced any delays from this site before today.

Cover photo ...

... looks kinda 'funky' like it was shopped from (at least)  three separate images ...

Cover photo

Nope, the cover photo is the real deal. The one thing that might make it look "unnatural" is it's an outdoor photo that's been augmented with a camera flash to fill in the shadows.

ah ... ok ...

It does seem rather 'unnatural' ... the lack of shadow make the edges seem 'harsh' so it looks like a composite of three images: the train, track, and bridge in the foreground; the two Barrys in the middle; and the background.  The foreground and people look 'flat' (due to lack of shadows I'm guessing).  It likely would have gone unnoticed in a smaller size, but the cover made it really stand out in my opinion ... a bit distracting really.

Speed issues and Location

No problems downloading in Denver! (I know, but I couldn't help it. Joe set it up so perfectly)

Good Speed in Southwest Florida

I downloaded the 7" regular version and the embedded one and it just zipped through it in no time here in Tampa, Florida. I just came back from a trip to Minnesota for Thanksgiving and I used the travel time to get caught up on my MRH reading. Since WiFi isn't everywhere, or they charge you, I realized that I should have downloaded the embedded version in order to fully enjoy the issue. Please give us more about JMRI. Thanks.

Steam servicing facilities on the C&M

An overall view of the servicing facilities on the C&M. The roundhouse is seen to the right side with a change of shifts taking place. The ash pit is being cleaned while fishermen can seen on the small lake to the left. The city of Rock Ridge is located to the left rear of the photo and the major city of Rockton is located to the right rear of the photo.
