... Well... Sometimes it

...

Well...

Sometimes it takes doing something and making the mistake nine times...

To finally learn how to do the thing right, whatever the thing is...

Make mistakes your friend

I used to be in motion picture SP/FX and I don't think  there was a gig either I or one of my crew didn't make a mistake on.

Some were basic, easily fixed ones, though I hated when the same guy made the same one more than once. Others were the ones which kept you up nights trying to think of a fix. (ever build something off site then discover when erecting it you built it upside down and it doesn't fit the structure it's supposed to mount on? We did.)

Some of the time our  mistake would result in the item having a better look than the original design. (We won a little gold guy for one of our mistakes)

So learn to embrace your mistakes. Either they teach you something and other times they make things better. The big thing is to not let them get you down. Sometimes in fixing a mistake you will develop a better way of doing things and that is most rewarding, maybe even more so than getting things right in the first place.

I'm getting to the age where...

...I don't remember the old mistakes, so they all seem like new ones to me!!!

Maybe tongue-in-cheek, but it is frustrating to overlook something where I knew better, but forgot.

You have to know what you

You have to know what you don't know.
