Finally, the November issue of MRH is here

We finally solved our technical problems and the November issue is here.

But to get here we had to roll back from Adobe InDesign CS6 to InDesign CS5, at a cost of many hourse of rework.

InDesign CS6 has been out since May, so we felt it was safe to migrate to CS6 for the November issue.

Boy were we wrong. CS6 is as buggy as can be - so bad in fact that it completely munged the advertiser links in the magazine.

Not good - we were burned badly by Adobe back when we rolled out Issue 1 as we discovered Adobe's claims about Flash were patently untrue. Flash was a support nightmare and we immediately stood up a non-Flash version of the magazine (the standard edition) and were relieved to find all the support headaches went away. You ever wonder why Apple doesn't permit Flash on its devices - we totally understand why.

Well now we got burned again by Adobe. This time their CS6 version of InDesign has numerous "hidden bugs" that make it virtually unusable for serious magazine production. This is a release of a product that's been out there for 6 months, mind you.

Well, we got burned badly - so bad in fact, we're giving serious consideration about moving to Quark. This kind of sloppy software release does not build trust in Adobe's suite or their ability to deliver. And have you checked the price tag lately on the full CS suite? Ouch.

Anyhow, November MRH is finally here, with no thanks to you, Adobe.

We will let the issue bake in, then officially release it Nov 6

We'll let the Nov issue bake in for the rest of today, then we'll update the home page and current issue links, and issue the come-and-get-it email tomorrow.

November issue is GREAT!

What more can you ask for? This issue has articles I am in most need of- trees by the gunny sack, an SP station build, a visit to Micro Engineering!!! And the videos directly linking from the pages are a great feature as well. I will for sure be wearing out the pages on this one! Wait! This is all digital...these pages have an indefinite shelf life. Nice presentation...quite portable, and printable, too! Keep up the great work, the inspiration in these pages is super!

I  learned  of  your  magazine  at  a  local  club's  open  house  just  yesterday.  Best  tip  I  got  all  day.  Talk  about  perfect  timing,  I'm  working  on  adding  more  trees  and  blending  them  to  the  backdrop.  I've  worked  with  super  trees  before  but  now  I  know  how  to  really  make  them  SUPER  trees.  So  much  information  packed  in  a  great  magazine.  Love  it.  I'll  be  spending  days  looking  through  back  issues. I'm  a  N  scale  modeler  always  looking  for  new  and  better  ideas  to  bring  my  layout  to  life.  My  only  wish  it  that  I  would  have  found  out  about  MRH  sooner.  A  subscriber  for  life  now.

Thank  you.

Just saw Rod Stewert talking about his love of model trains and his set-up and thought I would look into the hobby.
