Online edition is hobbled

With this issue weighing in at 164 pages, our online publication provider ISSUU has finally hit the wall - the issue is too large. So we pulled the Grand Rails report for the moment to allow us to roll the issue out on our deadline.

However, we're going to split this issue into part 1 and part 2, then re-upload it for Tuesday, August 14th. So be patient ... the online edition will be in two parts and have *everything* by tomorrow.

The downloadable versions are fine - they have the full 164 pages in all their splendor.

Big time

Wow, that's one fat issue.  It will take a while to go through this one!

Thanks!

Thanks for your continued hard work and effort!  There are few things I enjoy more than getting comfy on the couch with a good drink and my iPad and reading through the latest issue!

Online edition this time

The Online edition at 164 pages this time was too large to be a single file with our Online provider, so we had to split it into two files.

We tried to integrate the two files as best we could, but it's not perfect. If you are in one half and click a link to something in the other half, it opens up a new tab or window in your browser. Click enough back and forth in the issue and you've got a whole bunch of windows or tabs open with the same magazine file proliferating.

When we move to MRH Gen two in a few months, we will be moving to a new online provider for the online version, and this limitation should go away.

Question about downloads

When I download each new issue, I usually use the Standard PC version.  What is the difference between that and the embedded version?  i see the embedded version is considerably larger, but I don't know what the difference is.

Thanks.

all the extras

I think it means a lot of the extra like videos and such don't need to be accessed off the web, they are all stored on your computer, so you don't need to wait for them to load or be connected to the web to be able to see them.  I probably should leave Joe or someone more knowledgeable to answer though...

Embedded version

Jurgen got the most important parts - videos and 3D click n spins are included as part of the PDF and play in the PDF instead of opening a web browser.

The photos in the Embedded version are also normally higher resolution so that you can zoom in on them to see more detail.

Great issue!

Have to agree with all the other voices here, this is one of the best (if not the best) MRH issues yet. Thick, at least 5 articles I need to read, and lots of new advertisers too. Well done MRH crew!

Awesome job

Definitely worth the extra wait, Joe. And certainly worth reading several times to glean all the nuggets. Too often other publications are one and done reads, but MRH always delivers.

I tend to judge the worth of a book or magazine issue by how often I reread or return to it. I used to say wear the cover off, but try as I might I can't do that with an issue of MRH. :)
