I can't read the articles on MR mag
When I go to read the articles on line ,the screen switches to black.,even when I'm loged in.How can I get to read MR articles? Thanks Pusser Neats
Details please
Details please:
What device? PC, Mac, iPad, Kindle, iPhone, Android phone ...?
What browser? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, Opera, something else?
If you tell is these details, then we may have a better idea of how to help.

Iphone
Is there an app to get MRH on Iphone? I did search and did not find anything on my Iphone4. Thanks, Phil
MRH on an iPhone
You can get GoodReader and download the MRH PDF to an iPhone and read it.
Unfortunately, it's a lot of panning and zooming right now. That's all going to change once MRH Generation 2 hits this next January.
Watch for more details in the coming months ... we're also looking at doing an MRH app, but the jury's still out on that one. Many mag publishers are finding publication apps are disappointing and going to a native HTML 5 format that you can just view on the device's native browser works best and gets the largest audience.
But we'll see.
At any rate, a reformat is overdue to make MRH easily readable on smartphones with NO scrolling or zooming. It's coming! The new version will still also look good on tablets and computer screens.

Great Magazine
I am sure glad I found your magazine. I read every issue from cover to cover. I am always searching for new ideas I can modify to fit my current layout. At the moment I have a front yard G scale layout that we are having a ball with. The neighbors love it as well as the visitors we get when participating in an open house tour. Currently I am working on kitbashing a Bachmann Big Hauler 4-6-0 engine into a 4-6-0 camelback engine based on pictures of CNJ and LIRR camelbacks. So the current series on building a loco in styrene was very welcome
I do have one suggestion. try including more scales other than HO and N.
Love to include more scales than HO and N
We'd love to include articles for more scales than HO and N, but the hobby demographics are stacked against us.
Some 60% or so of the model railroaders model in HO, and about 30% model in N. The remaining 10% are split between O, G, S, and Z, in that order (more O scalers than G, etc).
All things being equal this means 90% of the submissions we get will be for HO and N.
But it's not even that good because the N scalers have two (count them, TWO) N scale magazines, so 30% of our submissions are not for N scale - it's more like 10%.
The minority scales (O, G, S, and Z) each have their own scale specific publications, and these modelers tend to stick together because their numbers are smaller - so most of them submit to their premier scale-specific publication rather than to us.
The end result is 90% of what gets submitted to us is for HO, and much of the remaining 10% is N just because it's by far the largest minority scale.
We'd love to get more O, G, S, and Z submissions, but chances are slim, unfortunately. As to the MRH staff, we're all HO modelers except for John Drye. We recruited staff more based on motivation and ability rather than scale, so we got what you'd expect - mostly HO modelers. Our one On30 modelers, Lew Matt, passed way last spring - so we're in active pursuit of new On30 and HOn3/n2 blood.
Long story short, to get more non-HO material in MRH, we need to convince non-HO modelers to submit articles to us. I know if I were in their shoes, I'd prefer submitting an article to my scale-specific pub as a vote for it continuing rather than submit to MRH. But maybe some of you could convince someone who doesn't model in HO to write for us. We'd love that!

Not quite, Joe.
I'm (slowly) building a Fn3 layout. See http://www.mrdccu.com/layouts/RMP.htm. Fn3 is G-gauge (45 mm track) but the prototypical 1:20.3 scale for 3-foot scale track gauge.

Bruce, yay!
Yay, Bruce - some more non-HO modeling on the staff! Maybe some non-HO articles coming from that direction, perhaps?

Once I get more under my belt . . .
so that I'm coming from personal experience, not wive's tales, yes. I'm planning a column on DCC hybrid drive next spring - that's DCC on the track with a small (AAA ?) battery pack to keep it alive and running over dirty brass track!

DCC signaling
Hi Mr Bruce. can or would you give some advice as to how to power track when a Loco is stopped at a signal and power is cut by solenoid operating signal and track ?? Dont want to have to start loco by throttle. Im refering to DCC mode. Heard somebody say DC currant will keep loco alive as far as sound goes but I dont want to experiment as decoders are not cheap in this neck of the woods (NZ) Regards Ash
