Custom Animated Sign

Great article Rich!

I have always wanted to try one of Miller's signs, but haven't done so because I was never that crazy about the signs themselves. Problem solved!

Great How To

Good article Rick. Have looked at those signs a number of times wondering how easy it would be to modify. And your technique for protecting the building while cutting the mounting hole is a great idea.

Sign mod

Kevin,

I highly recommend that you give this method a try - it's as easy as it looks and the results are worth the effort.  As far as the metal guard when cutting - you (me) only have to have the cutting wheel run across the face of a finished building once to learn to take percautions!

Miller Engineering

Charlie & Joe,

I emailed a link to this article to the folks at Miller and they liked the idea and may want to put a link on their site.  I also suggested that they become sponsers....I hope that they contact you.

Very neat! Only one "issue"

Very neat! Only one "issue" I noticed... Maybe it's just me? I've never seen a business sign that overhangs the street like that, as far as I've seen, they only make it out over the side walk. I dunno, I'm sure there's a prototype for everything!

Josh, a sharp eye!

Josh,

You do indeed have a sharp eye - and you are correct.  I just temporarly stuck the building on my layout for the photo and video.  When it is installed in it's final place it will be in an area that has a deeper setback.

Sounds great Rick! I had to

Sounds great Rick! I had to modify my sidewalk plans to incorporate a handicapped ramp on a building, and in doing "research" I noticed what I had mentioned about the signs...
