Coming along ...
I'm the customer mentioned in the article and the layout is coming along, albeit slowly. The staging area is laid, risers are attached for the upper deck and I'm currently fighting with my wiring plan to make sure I do it "right". Since I've already had to disassemble everything once I'm trying not to repeat those mistakes again!
No pictures at this time, mainly because I've been lazy to take them and there's not a heck of a lot to show. But I will say that I hope to be running trains in the next couple of months as soon as I free up some time to put the upper deck in (have to finish some risers and figure out a couple of construction techniques I am unfamiliar with).
All in all Byron was a pleasure to work with - we came up with a plan that should keep me occupied for a VERY long time!
Pictures, please!
If you manage to, do take pictures. This would provide another interesting addition to the e-zine - plan article, then construction photos and comments and questions through it. I'd definitely be interested in seeing more.

Pictures ... hopefully soon ...
I'll see what I can do. Some of it is me being self-conscious of my work to be honest! I'm not used to public scrutiny! :)

Puh-LEEZ! If I can post long winded blog entries about my misguided adventures in layout construction without being run out of town then you have nothing to fear. Trust me, I help set the bar low
.
In all seriousness, It would be great to see how theory and planning is coming into existence. Also, we can all learn from each other's mistakes and this is a pretty forgiving crowd.

No need to be self-conscious ...
If you read issue 5's editorial on making a short project into a long project, then you know even the MRH staff can screw up - and we're not even afraid to admit it.
We learn the most from sharing with each other our mistakes, in fact. If I tell you the dumb boo-boo I made, hopefully you don't have to also make it! (wink)

Just to echo...
...what everyone else has said. No need to be self conscious here. There are modelers of all skill levels here and I have yet to see anyone poke fun at the efforts of another.
It will be great to see one of Byron's plans coming together. It should make for a great blog and once you start sharing your work others will chip in with ideas for making it better, stronger, faster!
Well - here's where I'm at
Well - here's where I'm at currently. Ignore the atrocious mess (although my wife reminds me of it every chance she gets).
I just started mounting the backdrop - the blue (painted) one is fully mounted, the other sheets are just being test fit so I can figure out where I want to put the cross braces. It's all (very) slowly coming along.
I should also mention I do have a blog (updated intermittently) at www.nscalemodeler.com where I'm hoping to keep track of my progress. Feel free to check it out.
