Jaw-droppingly outstanding
Well, MRH staff, you've outdone yourselves with this issue. It has everything from a steam-powered trip through the Siskiyous to make any railfan foam, to outstanding modeling articles that will keep me busy for months.
On my modeling desk is a structure kit that was awaiting the decision as to whether to detail and light the interior. Charlie Comstock's articles gave me the push forward to do it.
I've admired the glimpses of Dick Grimyer's work that I've seen in the past. This issue's article on his railroad is like a full-course meal. Beautiful work, with great details.
The gadgets side of me is well-served by Wolfgang Dudler's operating switchstands description. I'll have to try those. The other articles as well: every one of them has something of interest and some idea or techique I can use.
Well done.

Can't Download
Although I have downloaded the standard edition of issue 5 I would like to have the embedded issue. When I try to download the embedded issue I get an error.
Then I get a message about the internet being slow and the download could not start. I took the advice given and came back later to try again, but to no avail.
Any ideas as to why this isn't working when everything else online seems fine?
You've got a stale copy of the downloader in your cache
Blue:
You've got a stale copy of the downloader in your cache. Clear your browser cache and then load a fresh window and all should be fine.
I got the same error until I cleared my browser cache and now the embedded edition now downloads fine. One of the hazzards of hanging around this site while we're standing everything up the last day or two ...

BINGO!
Right on the money Joe! Thanks, downloading now!
Great issue and I have only read a portion of it so far.
Interesting behavior under SuSE 11.2
Joe,
Got SuSE 11.2 installed this weekend (and wan't that a headache) so I've got the latest in flash and Acrobat in the Linux world.
I was able to view videos inside of Acrobat (yeah!).
I clicked on the Rapido ad... once, I thought.. and it ended up opening the Rapido website in the Firefox I had open and then opened another Firefox session - with three tabs to Rapido.
Whoa. Not fatal, but a bit of fireworks!
Oh, and then Adobe gave me the error that the browser couldn't be launched. :-)
Gotta love computers...
Oh - I was able to duplicate this behavor with both the Rapido and other (BPL Brassworks) ads before I went off to read the magazine.

Another Great Issue!
Joe,
You and your staff did another fine job... been thru it once already. Highly impressive and informative! Looking to do another, more detailed review as soon as I'm done typing!

Extras Link points to a non-existent page
When I try the Extras link from page 14 it ends up displaying the Content release dates page. When I enter the link by hand I get your Page doesn't exist web page. Note that this was from the "standard" download.
I've just downloaded the Extended edition and it has the same link.
So, is it too early for the extras or is the link incorrect?
Cheers

I think you are too early...
I think I remember reading that the Extras will be released on the 8th?
Got the same thing...
Bill,
I got the same thing - and noticed that it said on that page that the Extras will be out on the 8th.

I downloaded the test issue Sunday evening.
It worked fine as far as I could tell. Do I need to delete it and download the full issue now, or is the latest test issue that was out Sunday accurate with all of the "bells & whistles?"
You should download the official release
You should re-download the official release.
The release candidate has had over a dozen corrections applied to it as part of the official release.

Thanks
Thanks for making available the best interactive mag of all time. I started getting it right from the beginning and have found it to be very informative, interesting and the connections to the advertisers is great. All around, a fantastic mag.
Thanks again ,Russ
Glad I found you...
Nice download
Very nice edition. I like the DCC Shortcuts Card. Printed it out and gave copies to club members who do not like reading instruction manuals. Also, posted a copy over the club operating panel.
