"Sharing" MRH post on facebook....

I notice we have that option. Is that OK?  I would really like to share your recent post on the MRH credits page dedication as I am a like minded person spiritually and would love for my friends to see it.

Sharing on Facebook

Michael,

Go for it - as we see it, anything that spreads the news of MRH (and Jesus Christ) in a good way is a positive thing.

RSS feeds for the Forums

I am a heavy mobile user and would like to get the RSS feeds from the forums, is their a good url to use so I can place it in my rss reader? I use the Google Reader for all my feeds.

BTW, great community and I really enjoy the online magazine, great job Joe, I remember reading your posts back in the Model railroaders forums. I was always impressed with the realism you created with your layout. Glad to see you took it to the next level.

Appreciative fan and reader.

RSS feed link for the forums

David:

Sounds like what you want is our RSS feed for the forums, essentially, Recent Posts in RSS form. Here's the link:

http://mrhmag.com/tracker_rss

My favorite RSS feed reader is Feedly, on an iPad it gives the MRH media-heavy posts an almost magazine-like quality. Here's some examples from our feeds on an iPad - notice they almost look like a magazine!

MRH Recent Posts feed in Feedly - very nice!

MRH Recent Posts RSS Feed when viewed in Feedly on an iPad - very nice!

MRH Blogs Feed

There's also an MRH Blogs feed if you want to follow the MRH blogs specifically:

http://mrhmag.com/blog/feed

This feed looks especially nice in Feedly:

MRH Blogs feed in Feedly ... looks especially nice!

MRH Blogs Feed in Feedly on an iPad ... looks fabulous!

Here's another screen shot of the MRH Blogs feed on an iPad ... you just flick up to page down through the posts. If your post has any images, Feedly pulls the image to make it the "feed teaser". Very nice, and shows the importance of posting images in your blogs when you can!

MRH Forum posts - another RSS feed page in Feedly on an iPad, again, very nice!

Another MRH Blogs page in Feedly on an iPad - superb!

The competition?

Just curious how "the competition's" forum RSS feed looks in Feedly, so here's a typical page. No images, just lots and lots of gray text. Not nearly as exciting as the MRH RSS feeds ...

Here's the competition's main forum RSS feed in Feedly on an iPad ... lots of gray

MR's Main Fourm Feed in Feedly on an iPad ... lots of gray

Reading MRH forums as a magazine-like experience

We highly recommend the Feedly RSS feed reader if you want to turn reading MRH's website into a fresh new Magazine-like reading experience.

Feedly is available as an app for iPads, iPhones, as well as Android devices. On computer desktops, Feedly is available as a browser plugin for Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. If you use IE, you're out of luck. Apparently, IE is too behind in functionaity for them to give serious consideration to making a plugin for it.

If you'd like to turn your MRH forum readining experience into something that's almost magazine like in its own right, do check out Feedly!

Website Download PDF mag

Sorry downloading the magazine is still a mind numbing slow process. Hope the site soon will be back up to speed, other wise I may drop it. It is such a good one too.

Reading these issues on your computer

I was doing this and that on my computer, and wasn't watching what I was doing.

I hit the control button and at the same time I held down the left side mouse and everything expanded. I was to say the least I was ??. Not the huge zoom you get when you go up in the corner and hit the maximize button.  It just expanded.

So I went to this web site lo and behold everything is easier to read. It's not out of the margins It's awesome.

Give it a try!

New venues

As one of the newest kids on the forum and one of the older ones, I have to say that I personally would not use Twitter nor Face Book as a notification source. Twitter because I really don't want to bother having to learn it and FB because it's a time trap. I have a FB account and find it increasingly hard to get off of it because of family posts that require likes, shares and messaging. You can lose a whole day at FB without even trying. I finally had to tell my family to "call me if it's important."

I just joined the group here on Saturday and fell in love with the format and all the information and sources you make available and would rather spend my time poking around here where my hobby interest is uninterrupted. I may never build another layout but I'm sure going to enjoy this site while I can. Thanks for being here...

No question Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube can be time sinks, but for a web-centric company like us, having a good presence on these sites is critical because a lot of people do hang out there. Marketing 101 is you go where the people are.

Our Facebook presence really pays off because that's the #1 source of new readers for us. Plus Facebook really works well when we're on-the-go and we want to post some up-to-the-moment pictures from an event.

I sometimes wonder what some people thought of TV in the early days - a huge time waster? These days, no one thinks twice about spending a couple hours in front of the tube in an evening. Between the two, I actually think Facebook is better than vegging out in front of the TV - with Facebook, you're actually interacting with other people.

But it's all a matter of priorities. If spending some time with others is important (and it should be) then Facebook works well when they're people you care about that aren't nearby.
