Structure Book format choice

Has anyone bought either of the Structure plans books from the MRH store? I was wondering which format is best for this type of book, I see the choices are epub, landscape, or portrait PDF.

As I expect I might want to print out some of the plans I was wondering if one format is better than the others. If anyone has experience with the book and either format I would appreciate any input.

Thanks,

Jim

Painting and weathering at 1:1 scale

I've been working working on a full size building project where we have our Inn. While not a railroad project I thought this would be a good place to document the progress. Today is my 57th birthday! The following will be some progress shots to overcome the "weathering" that, along with deferred maintenance, needed to be addressed so I can get back to building in smaller scales!

Aloha!

Temporary Layout

Hi All,

Recently some very surprising circumstances forced my wife, daughter, and I to move in to her parent's home while we wait for our house to "be complete" which should be some time around Spring. This of course left me in a tough spot layout wise as I had nothing to permanently setup and operate, so I figured I'd create a temporary, mobile, and cheap layout to hold me over until a more permanent layout could be deigned and implemented.

Horseshoe & Cottonwood Update #13

Progress has slowed as studying took over, but some progress has been made with scenery and track work with 98% of the roadbed complete and 95% of track installed and wired.  Only two more switches/tortoises to install and the rest is mainline run.  Aside from the frontage, scenery is in through the second titular town of Horseshoe Meadows shown:

New toy for my other model railroad

OK my other model railroad is the live steam park, Train Mountain.  So we got a new toy to use for our LAYOUT MAINTENANCE.  Its called a Brush Blazer, what a beast!  A quickie test today, we cleared about an acre in less than an hour!  Russ

Restoring a Mantua 4-6-2 locomotive

I don't have a functioning layout so, at the moment, all my pleasure comes from buying junkers and getting them back into respectable operating condition.
My current project started out with the purchase of a Mantua 4-6-2 from an acquaintance on a Facebook group of which I am a member.
This is what I started with. At the time I took the picture I had already completed work on the tender.

Need Wiring Troubleshooting Help

Ok, here goes:

1. I am using a Digitrak System.

2. I have power to the track (my testing lamp lights on both sides of all switches currently installed).

3. Using an H10-44 switcher (4 axle) to test trackage, the DCC engine receives its signal and starts out at 10% of power.

4. On some (but not all) switches, the engine pauses like it is thinking what to do next; does not lose power (lights and sound still present); and then either proceeds or proceeds if I increase throttle to a faster speed setting.
