Pueblo & Salt Lake RR

I had much fun with my Silver Valley RR. It's the route from module to module.  It's the route from module to module. But there was one problem. With modules you have problems to get any grades. So I came to the idea to build a permanent layout in this room. It was the pdf-file from an article from the late John Armstrong in MR Jan 1962, "To Hardscrabble, the hard way: a track plan". There he describes the PUEBLO & SALT LAKE RR in a 11 x 12-foot room. This layout plan hooked me!

Silver Valley RR

When my our Benjamin moved out there was another room in the basement. My wife told me, better a railroad than another storeroom. Well, the

Silver Valley RR

was born. The route from module to module.

Here's Extra 462 east on it's way from Fiddletown to Silver Creek.

GE 25-ton Grandt Line kit

Some time ago I've scratch build a 25-ton. This gave me the idea how
to change the Grandt Line kit to get a good runner. Here's my HowTo.

Turnout

A friend wanted a turnout for his new module, code 70, 2922mm radius (115'') for the main as well for the diverging track, Y-style.

Well, I've made a AutoCAD drawing and prepared the ties, 4 1/2 hours later: here you're:

And he wanted an "under the ties" throwbar.

Playing with trains

Finally I've found some place for my Silver Creek to test the tracks - in the entrance of my basement. I had added an extension into the floor.  And - like you see - testing is fun !!

The engine is a leased engine from a friend. Until now I own only these two cars. Now I can start with scenery. First step, building the station.

Narrow gauge

Just finished trackwork and wiring. Now this module is ready for operation. But there's more work with scenery.

stub switches

I like track work. For my new module Silver Creek I had to build stub switches too. Track is H0n3 code 55 for the narrow gauge and code 70 for standartd / dual gauge.

More at my Silver Creek site.

Grandt Line

My success scratch building a 25-ton gave me the idea for a better Grandt Line 25-ton:

Monday video

I participated in the annual FREMO meeting, this year in Braunlage, Harz Mountains.

We had a school together with gym! There were clinics in the class rooms and different layouts in the gym and assembly hall. And layouts from H0-USA, americaN , H0-Europa together with narrow gauges, H0-Europa modern, 0-scale with narrow gauge.
